Tim Lowe

I bought a Digital Camcorder to record a holiday-of-a-lifetime in the Caribbean. Whilst working in the Education Service,  I then drew on film-making skills I had acquired to make films that could be used to train teachers in specialist teaching techniques.  I’m now retired and living mainly in a Cornish village, I use film to celebrate and portray the people and activities of this rural and coastal community.

Fitness Friendship and GIGS from Tim Lowe on Vimeo.

This 30 minute film was awarded 4 stars at the British International Amateur Film Festival 2016.
Ship’s pilots in the 1800’s in Cornwall, England,  used specialised rowing boats called gigs.  These are now raced for sport.  The Roseland Gig Club is a small club with a big history to live up to. This is the story of the Roseland Gig Club’s journey to the World Cornish Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly in 2014, capturing their preparation and fitness training, and the unique atmosphere of this 25th Anniversary World Championship event in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
