Our club members have worked incredibly hard on a documentary, which premiered at a cinema right here in Sutton! Tom McDaniel, one of the long-standing officers of Sutton FilmMakers, edited and spearheaded this project.
What is the film Keeping Culture Alive about?
In recent years, many people from Hong Kong have chosen Sutton as their home. This documentary explores how they are preserving their culture in the lead-up to the Mid-Autumn Festival, which takes place on Sutton High Street.
Keeping Culture Alive was made in 2024 by Sutton FilmMakers in collaboration with the Hong Kong community.
About the Film:
- A film by Sutton FilmMakers about Hongkongers who’ve made Sutton their home, delving into how they’re keeping their culture alive in the build-up to the Mid-Autumn Festival.

A documentary-style promotional video filmed and edited by members of Sutton FilmMakers on behalf of Sutton Council.
