Spy Scene: Shoot and Adapt on the Night
July 1 @ 7:45 pm – 10:15 pm
As part of our Film-in-a-Night Summer Challenge on 1st July, below is a short, suspenseful scene, your mission is to bring it to life in just a few hours using whatever crew, cast and creativity you have at hand.
The script, set in a public space at night, features two mysterious figures meeting for a secretive exchange. It’s simple, atmospheric and open to interpretation. Think espionage, noir thriller, or a spoof comedy — the tone is up to you.
You’ll be encouraged to:
- Choose a nearby location that works for your take on the scene — a park, alleyway, quiet street or car park.
- Add your own visual flair, dialogue, or twists to make it your own.
- Plan and shoot efficiently in teams with limited time and kit.

Bring your own kit if you like, or make use of the club’s gear, we’ll have a couple of rigs available, along with tripods, handheld rigs and lights for teams to share and experiment with.
This is a fantastic opportunity to practise on-location filmmaking, quick thinking, and collaborative creativity, all under time pressure. We’ll finish the night by reviewing rushes or early edits, and the best footage may even be used in the club’s promotional materials.
No pressure, no perfection, just real-world experience and loads of fun.
