Session led by Tom McDaniel

August 6 @ 7:45 pm 10:00 pm

Documentary shooting techniques – Practical hands on workshop

Introduction

You will direct and shoot inserts and sequences that can be used as broadcast material.

The scenarios are designed to get you thinking about the material required for a real programme, from basic coverage to more creative shots.

Your footage will be fed into the edit so you can learn about good and bad shooting habits and what the editor is looking for in order to make sequences flow.

Breakdown of Workshop:

·       Examining examples of programmes

·       Composition of shot sizes

·       Gaining enough coverage techniques

·       Shooting for editing

·       One and two camera working methods

·       Microphone techniques

What Skills Will I Learn?
You will have the confidence to plan and shoot sequences and inserts that can be successfully edited together to form a broadcast quality programme.
Basic sound recording will be covered which you will put into practice throughout the course using various types of microphones, but this is not a full sound workshop.
