Beast in a Briefcase
Dear film Connoisseur,
I am Luke Baumkotter age 13 when I made “Beast in a Briefcase” A dramatic malevolent chase film, with my friend Tom Gill in the summer holidays whilst out cycling with our rotter-man dog Skyler. The first film festival I entered it into won “Best Film” IAC south east under 18, Best Shorts competition Award of Recognition: Young Filmmaker – 17 and and semi-finalists at Hollywood screenings FF & Los Angeles Cinefest FF all still to be considered. My Grandmother bought me a Next suite from a charity shop that fitted well and I wanted to use in a film and play a business man, my friend Tom wanted to be a villain so I came up with the idea of a business man being mugged. My dad helped as a cameraman and seeing Skyler ‘s reflection in a puddle by the road side gave me the idea of a monster beast. Unfortunately Skyler died in a car accident before the film was finished so we use a mask for the two final beast shots. With my dad’s help I entered a competition run by Studio Lambert makers of Gogglebox for 3 minute horror film to be shown to a cinema audience and win by most votes for the BBC “The Fear” TV programme. Our film “Driller Killer” was short listed but did not make it to the silver screen.
Driller Killer starring Shank the Ripper was produced for a competition, run by Studio Lambert makers of Gogglebox CH4 UK. It was a 3 1/2 minute Horror film to be shown to a cinema audience in London Fulham road to win by most audience votes. Top prize of £20,000 and to air on the BBC 3 channel 5 episode tv programme “The Fear”. Our Film “Driller Killer” was short listed to go into the cinema but did not make the final cut to the silver screen. Following on from this success the film has gone on to be officially selected to The London monthly FF, UK Screen One IFF, Grindhouse Planet FF, Comicpalooza FF, Jim Thorp IFF, Screened at Tulsa Overground FF and won Barcelona Planet FF “Best Trailer”.
